The Lead Instructors expect the following from our Instructors whose soul focus is only training the new Cadets and Deputies + for sub divisions
What is expected:
Reaching out to Cadets and asking if they want a training or a refresher on something
Hosting refresher courses on how to handle stuff for Probationary Units and above
Hosting Sub Division trainings for Deputies +
Focusing only on trainings ( Can do Ride Alongs if a Mentor as well )
For those who believe they can handle both ( Instructor and Mentor ) and for when we need both there will be a possibility to be both.
During the Cadet Training you only need to do a Classroom portion and a small in game portion
The training should cover the basics ( Just read from the guide ):
How to use Department Panel and Cad System
How to do basic radio callouts ( Going over 10-codes... )
How to handle 10-11s, 10-70s, 10-80s...
Use Of Force ( How to deescalate, when is a good time to shoot... )
Medical procedures
During a refresher course you can go over the Training Guide once again or only go over certain portions ( Depending what you host the refresher course as or what the attendees want a refresher on )
Refresher course should be a simple classroom portion just telling them the do's and don'ts.
As a Mentor your job is to teach the new in coming Probationary Units on how to handle them selves on duty, teaching them how to be safe and proper protocol. You should be doing the following things as a Mentor:
Reaching out to Probationary Units and asking if they want a Ride Along
If getting in game just asking if anyone wants a ride along.
Helping and answering questions asked to Mentors.
Does Evaluation Ride Alongs if at the rank of Senior Deputy+
Completes 3 Ride-alongs a Month
For those who believe they can handle both ( Instructor and Mentor ) and for when we need both there will be a possibility to be both.
During a Probationary Ride Along your job is to follow the Probationary Deputy Program, filling out the checklist, teaching how to handle stuff. It is important that you teach how you do stuff during the first ride along so he knows how to do stuff. Do not expect the Probationary Units to know how to handle stuff. Let them make mistakes and learn from them, after scenes discuss on what he could have done better, what he did good. Make sure to motivate them, do not say you did terrible or something like that it discourages them and it could lead to them not wanting to continue.
The Mentor taking the Probationary on the Evaluation must be a Senior Deputy+
Probationary unit must have done 2 weeks of solo patrol after the last Mandatory ride along he has done.
During the Evaluation you must complete the check list with 5 out of 9 accuracy, if the Probationary Unit fails he will be required to redo it with another Mentor next week. There will be a 1 week evaluation ride along cooldown.
If the Probationary unit passes the Evaluation a 8 hour vote will be posted to see if he makes it up to the next rank of Deputy.
