The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office Field Training Academy exists to ensure that every new deputy is trained to the highest professional standards before being integrated into the department.
The Academy’s mission is to:
Provide cadets with the skills and confidence required to operate safely and effectively.
Offer probationary deputies mentorship and real-world training through structured ride-alongs.
Equip FTAs and FTOs with the tools to guide the next generation of deputies.
Uphold professionalism, integrity, and accountability across the department.
Every Cadet, FTA, and FTO is expected to take training seriously, to maintain discipline, and to prioritize officer and civilian safety in every scenario.
Professionalism: Deputies represent the BCSO at all times. They shall operate at the most professional standard possible.
Safety First: For those conducting or observing training, all decisions must prioritize life and public safety.
Constructive Feedback: Focus on encouragement and improvement.
Consistency: Training should be standardized across all FTAs and FTOs.
Accountability: Every member is responsible for maintaining the standards of the Academy and will be held accountable for their mistakes.
